Consists of papers, mostly correspondence with the Veterans Administration, accumulated by Lillian Dussault of Philadelphia regarding pension benefits through her common-law husband Joseph Thomas Dussault (1890-1944), a veteran of World War I born at St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Joseph Dussault died in Spring of 1944 and these papers extend from his death to 1946. Although most correspondence is addressed to Lillian Dussault in Philadelphia some records are also from Camden, New Jersey, where Joseph Dussault was located as late as 1942.

Joseph Thomas Dussault was born, the son of Victoria Martel and Magloire Dussault, on 22 May 1890 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He enlisted from Manchester, New Hampshire, on 27 June 1918 as a mechanic in the Company B, 12th Supply Train and was discharged on 28 June 1919. Joseph Dussault met his common-law wife Lillian T. Dussault in 1919, at which time he was living in Glendora, New Jersey, and she in Philadelphia. The couple rented a home in Glendora and moved in together in 1920. According to her correspondence, Lillian separated from Joseph Dussault in 1939, largely owing to his alcoholism. Joseph Dussault died in 1944.
