The collection consists of 26 videotaped and one audiocassette taped oral history interviews of French-Canadian immigrants living in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This project was the culmination of an upper-level independent study French course taken under the supervision of Dr. Melvin B. Yoken, professor of French at UMass Dartmouth. The subjects were French-Canadian immigrants who settled in New England. Most interviews were conducted in the summer and fall of 2002 by undergraduate students Dawn Lyons and Matt Leavitt. File notes from the students indicate that four interviews were not taped, nor are included in the collection. Narrators chose whether to conduct the interview in French or English; each interview contains at least a few French phrases. Biographical forms are in a folder shelved with the boxes, and copies are in the control file. Interviews were digitized in 2017.
