• Saint-Bruno (Van Buren, Me.) parish census - Finding Aid
  
  This document is a photocopy facsimile of the nominal census of the population of the parish of Saint Bruno (Van Buren, Quebec) conducted by its resident priest, Father Pierre Stanislas Vallée in 1872. The census includes information about the location of the household, the names of its residents, their ages, the number of years of marriage of heads of household, birthplace, names of parents, occupation, and remarks. In addition, there are genealogical annotations by Guy F. Dubay of Madawaska, Maine. The cansus will be of interest to historical researchers and genealogists.

  This collection consists of four notebooks of handwritten song lyrics by Elise Violette, as well as a page of Violette family genealogy created by Guy Dubay in 1992. The song lyrics are mostly in French, with some English. None of the songbooks are dated, although one has "Elise Violette, 19 years old" written faintly in pencil on the front cover, dating it circa 1910.
• Claude Picard’s paintings on postcards - Finding Aid
  
  This collection consists of seven colored postcards and one colored magazine clipping depicting paintings by Mr. Claude Picard. Six of the postcards are a representation of paintings illustrating the Deportation and losses of the Acadians from their lands. They hang in the Grand-Pré Memorial Church at Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia, One postcard is of a Christmas Nativity scene at the Cathedral in Edmundston, New Brunswick that Mr. Picard painted. Not dated. The colored magazine clipping is of a fresco titled La vie au Madawaska 1785-1985 which is located at the Edmundston City Hall.

  This is one of two known manuscript collections created by Prudent L. Mercure sometime between 1890 and 1913. Deposited in 1985 at the Centre de documentation et d’étude madawaskayennes (CDEM), Centre universitaire St-Louis-Maillet, Edmundston, New Brunswick. Topics include, pig butchery, Eagle Lake "monster", blood and fire stopping, lutins and other folklore. Submitted for a course at the University of Maine at Fort Kent in Spring 1974.

• Beatrice Craig research materials circa 2005 - Finding Aid
  
  This collection consists of research materials collected and transcribed by Beatrice Craig. Included are notes on the Haldimand papers with references to the Saint John Valley and people who moved to the Valley; notes on "Cour des Playdoyers Communs" vs. the district of Quebec, arranged by docket number and included transcription of the trial to 1790; notes on the trial of an "Indian murderer;" notes on microfilm concerning New Brunswick Crown Land papers, land petitions, and Kennebecassis and the lower Saint John Valley; a list of contents and transcription of an account of Acadians by Simon, Hazen, and White; and miscellaneous notes. Also included are transcriptions by former Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes archivist, Nick Hawes, as well as his general notes on the articles originally included in the collection, "info about people who went to Madawaska or people connected to Madawaska."

  The research collection of Béatrice Craig (b. 1949), historian, professor, and author, consists of data on the history of the Upper St. John Valley for the period ca. 1785-1870. In 1992, Béatrice Craig offered to loan the Acadian Archives her collection for the purpose of creating a photocopy version. Additional materials were added the following year.
• Alphonsine Kent Photograph Collection - Finding Aid
  
  The 59 black and white nitrate negatives in this collection date circa 1915-1920. They consist of 39 informal portraits of unidentified individuals and groups; 17 outdoor scenes (mostly images of Fort Kent, Maine and Clair, New Brunswick); 4 interior/exterior images identified on the negatives as Eagle Lake Camps; and 3 images of a parlor room with musical instruments.
• A Guide to the Albina Cyr Song Manuscript Collection
  
  Three hand written notebooks of manuscript song texts and poems compiles by Madawaska, Maine area resident Albina Cyr (b. 1 March 1920) and by her maternal great aunt Anna Clavette (Mrs. Ernest Fournier) of St-Basile, New Brunswick. The Ablina Cyr song collection was loaned to the Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes for photocopying by Ms. Cyr following a field visit to her home on 21 October 1992.

  This collection consists of newspaper articles of Albina and her father, printed song sheets, Albina’s handwritten song lyrics, one small volume of Army Song Book, Christmas song collection printed on 4.5" x 5.5" folded cards from A.G.C.C. dated 1948, photographs of Albina Cyr, and one autographed photo of entertainer Gene Autry from when he was at the Auditorium in Bangor, Maine for a show dated Monday, February 13 (the year is not indicated).
• A. and S. Dufour Ledger 1844-1848
  
  The A. and S. Dufour Ledger spans the years 1844 - 1848 and transactions were documented as they were taking place in the Dufour store at the time. All transactions were written in French and items sold in the store consist of groceries, shoes, tobacco, nails, wheat, etc.. These documents shed light on how and what transactions were done in the years past. Original ledger, now apparently missing, was the property of the Madawaska Historical Society. This photocopy edition was donated tp the Acadian Archives by Beatrice Craig c. 1993. This collection consists of photocopies of photocopies of a handwritten ledger for the A. and S. Dufour store. Photocopies are in good condition but the handwritting is hard to read. Guy F. Dubay. The index was prepared by Béatrice Craig c. 1993.
